    Kinda Funny

So I have been wondering lately about the laws concerning exotic pets, where I live. I didn't want to go to my local city building and ask about it, just in case I was in violation. So I called from work (I work about thirty miles from where I live) and said that I was thinking about moving to their town, and was wondering about their exotic pet laws.

The lady on the phone asked what kind of exotic pet I was wanting to keep and I told her snakes, and did not specify what type of snake. She said she would need to do some research and call me back. I gave her my number and a fake name (I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone).

When she called back she asked what type of snakes I was talking about and I said Pythons and Boas. She then said that from what she was looking at they were fine to keep as long as they were kept in clean sanitary conditions. Then she went on to say that the only snakes that were not allowed were constrictor snakes. ?????????? So I then asked her if pythons and boas were not in the constrictor family and she said that her chief of police looked it up and since boas and pythons swallow their prey whole they are not considered constrictors.

She offered to send me a copy of their exotic pet laws. So I had her fax it to my work. And low and behold if I ever decide to start keeping HOTS. I'll be okay because they only have restrictions on "Poisonous" snakes not Venomous snakes.

And we wonder why stupid laws are being passed by people that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.
