Nice little forum you all have here! I'm a member of all kinds of forums, mainly automotive related... but I just picked up some ball pythons so I figured it was time to join a forum. Don't get me wrong I did research ahead of time, and I have owned other reptiles in the past.
My snakes are both normals - one is a 2010 CB male, still trying to think of a name for him! The other I adopted so I'm not sure about age or sex (came with the name Monty, so hopefully male lol).
When I picked Monty up, his enclosure was somewhat dismal. Lots of pet store stuff for him to climb on, but they were using a Sunbeam heating pad inside the cage for warmth, and there was no substrate at all. Judging by the tiny bits of skin everywhere, he was having a very hard time shedding... probably due to the utter lack of humidity. He ate a f/t mouse the night we got him home, and after a few warm water soaks he completed his shed last night. I had to help him with one of the eye caps, he's so tame he sat perfectly still in my hand while I gently dabbed the eye cap off with a moist q-tip! I was almost expecting to get snapped at, I can't think of many animals who will sit around and let you poke them in the eye!
I hope to be around here for quite a while, eventually when I buy my own home I would like to get into breeding morphs. A pair of male normals isn't the best way to get started I suppose, but oh well. As I said above I have owned several reptiles in the past, including Anoles, a Green Iguana, and snapping turtles. Currently, I also have a ~20 year old 3-toed box turtle whom I adopted last year.
