    Difference between ad and add

I know my grammar is terrible and my spelling sucks as well and yes this is the internet but still for some reason seeing add in place of the word ad really irritates me... I don't know if it's the same for anyone else and I hope so that way I don't sound like a jerk lol maybe it's the same with two, to, and too for some people....

    add
    –verb (used with object)
    1. to unite or join so as to increase the number, quantity, size, or importance: to add two cups of sugar; to add a postscript to her letter; to add insult to injury.
    2. to find the sum of (often fol. by up ): Add this column of figures. Add up the grocery bills.
    3. to say or write further.
    4. to include (usually fol. by in ): Don't forget to add in the tip.

    ad
    –noun
    1. advertisement.
    2. advertising: an ad agency.

Please please could someone else chime in and make me feel better....
