My male BP just ate, for the first time since we got him, last Friday (we got him on 3/27/10) - we had some issues with husbandry (it's our first snake and I had some issues getting the temps right) and then he had mites. We'd tried several times and he'd never shown any interest in the f/t mice/rats we offered. I figured we'd try one last time and then we'd switch to live to try and illicit a feeding response. We ended up feeding him a f/t mouse (because my husband was worried that the rat we had was too large for him) and after a few gentle bops on his nose he struck and at the mouse quickly. I noticed yesterday that he was extra attentive when I came into the room so I decided to try and feed again last night and I'd barely gotten the mouse into the tank with the tongs when he struck and ate right away. My question is, how do I know when he's hungry? I know most people offer food every 10 days or so but since he's not eaten at all in the last two months I'm not sure if I should offer food again soon or wait? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
