So I've got a 4 year old virgin female crestie who likes to lay eggs even though they're infertile, and my GF and I have noticed that her behavior seems to go in cycles around it. She seems to get "friendlier" as she's about to lay (jumps toward you looking excited, wants to climb all over you, etc), and we've noticed some behavior that could be classed as "defensive" afterward, almost as if she's guarding the egg. (She'll twitch her tail and "bark" at you sometimes.)
Has anybody else noticed anything like this? Is it common for female cresties to behave this way? Personally, I don't think it's anything I'm going to get worried about, but it's interesting to observe.
