I've bred them for a couple years now and believe that groups of 1.2 are the way to go. They are nippy very nervous in comparison to domestic rats and also smarter than rats. If you get an escapee he or she will not rest til they do it again.
Like most have posted there only drawback is growth rate. Good luck with them they are going to breed like crazy.
