Hmm. It is either a very nice pastel, or a super, but not a super nice super. I'd expect VPI to have very nice pastels, so that part does not surprise me.
It is possible it was in with the regular pastels, because it came from a breeding that had no chance of producing a super, therefore, no matter how "super" it looked, it was the het form of pastel.
In some ways, if it were my snake, I'd be hoping it WASN'T a super. If he looks that good as a regular pastel, imagine the supers he'll be able to produce!
As you said, you'll find out for sure when you breed him.
