So if you read my caging thread you know I've been stressing over my temps as I am eager to go ahead and get my snakes. My biggest foe here being the ambient air temp of like 65 in the living room when the thermostat upstairs is set for 72.
It makes me wonder how people with pythons and boas get the hot "Cool spot" temps they need in the 80's and stuff.
So how's your heat set up? Multiple heat sources? Is your house just hot? The thought made me curious as I hoped someday in the future to own a boa or GTP. But this house temp problem is drivin me nuts.
As for me I think I am gonna try using some insulation boards under the cage and heat pad. And hope that carries over to the other side abit as well. I'd like to move them upstairs (easy solution) but there's just not much space. I didn't think keeping the cool side 70 or above would be so hard. I'm starting to see 68's and 66's on my thermometer in my nightmares. Maybe I should use a larger pad. I bought 11x17's but the cage is 36'. Rats don't like it to hot though. What's funny is I thought I was gonna have a hard time keeping things cool.
