My quest to find my missing Pastel on March 7 at 4:30 am...
On Saturday, March 6, I was volunteering at the sanctuary for most of the day. I got home, fell asleep at 6:30 pm in my TV room (QT room as well) on the couch.
At 4:30 am I woke up and decided to go to my bed and fall back asleep. As I got in my room I checked the thermometers in the Ball python tubs and they were all up to 120F. Freaking out, I got all of my Ball pythons out of their tubs. They were HOT, so I was so worried if they were in there longer they would have overheated. The thermostat fell off the wall it was on and that made the probe come out of under one of the UTHs. I unplugged the thermostat after I got them out.
Opening my Pastel's tub I began to lift up her hide. She wasn't there. That is when I started to panic. I cried A LOT because my door was open all night and the fact of my cat getting to her made me tear up so much. I ripped up my room checking every possible place I could. I checked areas close to my room as well as the TV room.
I searched for 2 hours, and I called my friend that lives very close by and volunteers with me and is one of my best friends. I told her everything at 6:30 am and she walked over to help me find Cookie for two more hours. We checked under my large dresser but couldn't find her. We moved it out of my room for more room and so no snake would wander under there.
At 8:30 am I decided to move my Beardie to the spot where that large dresser used to be, so we put the heavy tank on the ground. We picked up the night stand when my friend felt something and said, "I felt something weird under there!" and I laughed saying, "There's nothing under there besides those few things." She walked back over there after we set the night stand down and she said, "Tiffany, I found your snake." Not believing her I said, "Yeah right, don't mess with me." Then she replied, "She's right here." After she lifted the paper towel tub up with the snake trying to fit inside.
I immediately took the snake out and hugged it and said, "I can't believe she was under there, I even checked under there a few hours ago!!" I put her back in the tub and re-taped everything so that the probe couldn't fall out again. I moved the tubs and stand to a different part in my room so now I have a fresh start. I was so worried, that was the first time I lost something like that.
