I am very proud to introduce my new albino RTB, Aphrodite. This little lady was a rescue from a home that knew next to nothing about taking care of snakes. She's one of the sweetest snakes I've ever encountered, has never hissed or tried to bite, despite gentle scrubbing around her eyes with a baby toothbrush. She had one of the most severe mite infections I have ever seen (several of them were big enough that they could have been mistaken for small ticks!), she had two retained eyecaps, was extremely dehydrated and terribly emaciated from lack of food and clean water. Needless to say, when she came to me, she was a mess. I treated her for the mites and worked diligently to get rid of them. As of today, she shed, and whoa Nelly, let me tell you that was a nightmare. Bits and pieces is the only way I can describe it. However, the good news is that BOTH eyecaps came off, woo hoo! Now we're just working on getting some much needed weight on her. These pictures were taken the day before yesterday, so she is still in shed, but I had to share. I'll take more pics later this evening and post them to show off her gorgeous eyes.
