On Sunday, the 24th The National Pet Association will have a table at The New York Reptile Expo in White Plains, NY.
We'll have the latest information about The National Python & Boa Ban including information about what the next steps are and possible time lines now that the United States Fish & Wildlife Service has announced that they will initiate the official regulatory process on the nine species of constrictors currently threatened by the passage of S373 & HR2811.
We'll also have letters to sign with a newly updated message that updates your Senators about the latest action taken by the US Fish & Wildlife service and lets them know how they can help their python & boa owning constituents.
But wait! There's more!!
We'll also be premiering our new "I Keep Snakes And I Vote" t-shirts at the show! In 2010, The National Pet Legislative Fund will be launching a voting record "score card" for Congressional candidates that will educate pet owners about each candidates voting record for either bills or laws that negatively impact responsible pet ownership.
Be one of the first to get one of these awesome shirts!!!
For the dog lovers that are attending the show, we'll have information and petitions to sign in support of "Oreo's Law". Oreo was a 12 month old dog that was severely beaten and thrown off a six story Brooklyn rooftop. Miraculously, Oreo survived with two broken legs and a bunch of broken ribs. She was nursed back to health by the ASPCA and her abuser was prosecuted. As she recovered, Oreo began to show aggression and the ASPCA slated her for euthanasia. Before she was killed, a rescue group experienced with aggressive dogs offered to take Oreo and give her a safe home for the rest of her life at no cost. The ASPCA refused and killed her anyway. "Oreo's Law" is a bill in the NY State legislature that would require shelters to turn over animals instead of killing them to 501(c)(3) rescue organizations that are willing to take them. "Oreos Law" will save the lives of thousands of animals. Come out and sign some letters asking the NY state legislature to pass "Oreo's Law"!!!
Oreo shortly before being killed.
Thank you and I'll see you at the show!!!
