In almost five years of keeping ball pythons, I've never had this happen before. I'm feeding the crew tonight, and I listen for the "thwump" that tells me they hit their rat and then I go back and check on everyone, make sure that everyone has everything under control. With 47 ball pythons to feed, it's open tub, drop rat, close tub, "thwump" and repeat until you get through all the snakes, then go back and check everyone.

I check on Echo - who always hits the hardest and the fastest and is pure muscle. I had heard her hit, and I checked her tub and the rat was sitting there cleaning himself while she's coiled tightly around her newspaper!

After she made sure the newspaper was good and dead, she released it, only to wonder why there wasn't anything to eat. THEN she found the rat and took care of business. I guess you can say she was a little TOO eager to eat tonight!
