Thank you, and I appreciate your input.Wow i find this to be a really rude comment that was completely unnecessary. You didn't have to be so sarcastic in your response when the OP was asking a legitimate question. I agree with you and your conclusions and like what your trying to do to help them out and capture them so people don't have to be scared I like your conclusions and with a track having a width of 7 inches can only mean its a large constrictor or giant rattlesnake. No garder snake, rat snake, or corn snake could leave a track that wide.
You know what i would try, get an outdoor lamp or a dome lamp with a red basking light. Get like a storage tub that you would find at walmart or where ever that is about 60qt or so and cut a hole in the side for the snake to get in. I would leave this setup with some bedding in the bottom with the smell of rats or mice on it, so if you have some at home that would probably work. Now i don't know how you would go about closing the door on the snake or even making a door, but you could also just put a hole on the top of the tub so the snake could get in, but might take some time to get out. Check the trap often to see if anyone "moved in." This is just a suggestion, but the mouse or rat smell could entice the snake and this is probably better than just leaving a rat or mouse in there as free food haha.
