Here I am at six days of ownership, though I did a few weeks of research before hand and have loved animals since about the time I could speak, and I am thinking about getting some genetic stripe morphs. You guys are right, they're like potatoe chips.
A member here posted pictures of his collection and he had a beautiful picture of a genetic stripe. The strip was continuous, black lines were solid from head to tail, and I couldn't see any side markings, I loved it. I generally like simplified characteristics of anything. Feng shui. Simple balances.
I've been searching breeders and websites to see what's for sale and there isn't much. I've found the most at kingsnake.com with faunaclassifieds.com coming in second. It's sort of an expensive morph but doesn't seem that popular, I'm disappointed. Also I haven't found too much information about them beyond what breeders have for sale. There are some spectacular combos with pastel and cinnamon, amongst others.
I am really tempted to pick up a homogeneous genetic strip because I love the pattern and to get a head start on possibly breeding them. They're $700-800 though while a male/female pair of heterozygous are around $300-400. But I hate playing the lottery when I can increase my odds.
There is another morph that I haven't seen but I saw mentioned somewhere. Someone said that a cinnamon pastel could lead to solid black ball python? I would love that too. And I really like the coloring of a cinnamon genetic stripe.
Am I totally crazy?
