In February of 2008 I bought my second bearded dragon from a reptile show......the owner had no clue about them. The little fella (3 years old I was told) was dehydrated and was in desparate need of a good home. Nonetheless, I took him home.

I got him setup in a 75 gallon tank complete with several rocks to bask on and ceramic tile as substrate. After he settled in I began feeding him crickets and silkworms. Because he was underweight I offered him more than I did my other beardie that I raised.

He ate everything in site. It was like he had not eaten in several months! He ate all of his veggies, all of his live prey and he began to gain some good weight. After a few months of bathing regularly and feeding him, and tlc he got to the point of being lazy!

During my vet visits I finally got rid of the pinworms that he was infected with when I originally bought him.

After a while he refused to bask, refused to eat, and he would just lie down on the cool end of the tank for days and months at a time.

He will eat some superworms and he will eat some silkworms if they are close enough to him or you feed him out of your hand. As far as chasing crickets......aint gonna happen.

Even to this day he will not bask. I took him to the vet and did a fecal........no parasites! When removing him from the tank he all of a sudden becomes alert and well aware of his surroundings. Place him back in the tank and he lays down on the cool end for weeks at a time without eating period!

I am using a Mega Ray MVB that I change regularly every 6 to 9 months (just put in a new one tonight) so I know that is not the issue. Any guesses?
