I'm excited! I picked up a tiny pastel female from a friend. She is a clutch mate to my other 09 baby, Delilah, but she is only about half the weight or so. There were only two babies out of the clutch that really ate well, the rest had to be assist fed, and are still shoddy feeders.
Anyways, the pastel girl I had wanted finally had enough meals in her to be good and stable. I picked her up on Sunday evening (it's about an hour drive). I was told she wasn't fed this week b/c she was being moved and that she was about to shed. The warning was also given that she would only eat if you left her alone all day in a dark place, and didn't even *think* about opening the tub after putting in the prey.
On the way home I noticed that she had already tried to shed, but all that had come off was her head =/ So I misted her tub before I put her in it, and after about half an hour decided that the shed really needed to come off. So she got a short soak (she drank a ton!) then slithered through a damp washcloth for a while and everything came right off. She wasn't real thrilled about it, but I figured she would deal with it.
I needed to feed my other smaller guys today, so I went ahead and picked up a mouse for her. I have a bottomless pit that would eat it if she didn't want it. I didn't really have time to do anything special, so I just dropped the mouse in for her on her turn like I do with everyone else. She watched it for a while, then *BAM!* Yay! She's like a pro...I don't know if it was the extra days with out food or what, but she wasn't shy at all! I'm so happy!
I just hope she keeps it up! ^_^ None of my guys are shy feeders (*knock on wood*) and I'm thrilled that I don't have to tiptoe around her like I thought I was going to have to.![]()
