My new babies ate!
This isn't really a question or anything, but I had to share... I just fed my new babies, who arrived this past Thursday, and they all took their meals!
I know you're supposed to wait a week before feeding, but my other snakes were due to eat today - and I really want them all on the same schedule. First I threw in a (live) hopper mouse for Pedro, the Mojave... he only looked for a second before striking, and got it on the first try. Then I gave the het boy a hopper, and also threw in a rat weanling for the (2008) female het. Roz took hers after about 2-3 minutes, but Orlando was still staring at his. After a while I noticed his hopper was in the empty hide, so I reached in and removed it - then left the room. I came back a minute later, and Orlando was coiled tightly around the mouse. I'm very excited they took their meals, and hopefully that means they are feeling comfortable. I'll try handling them once they've digested, since I want to get started on that right away... they're still pretty skittish when I'm around, so it might take some patience. Wish me luck, and any tips on "taming" new hatchlings would be appreciated!
P.S. My other hatchling (spider male) is arriving on Wednesday, so I'll probably feed him the following Sunday.
