I saw Freakie_Frog's post about his new building (nice I must say!). So, I decided to post about what's been going on around here.
I had a 200 amp service upgrade done on my old house (finally) about 3 weeks ago. So, now I have the power to replace the rediculously small overhead wire that ran to the building with a 2ga. underground service wire and a 100amp subpanel. This upgrade was needed to add an a/c unit in the rodent building (going in tomorrow). While the trench was open it seemed to be a good time to run water to the building, too (no more dragging water hoses around). I'll have to wait on the water heater for a month or two because they are a bit pricy. Well, all of this has been done and it was time to fill in the trench and I thought... why not go ahead and run cable tv (for a little entertainment on cleaning day), and cat5 so that I can network my computer out there with the one inside to update and access my rodent/reptile records. Then, why not go ahead and run more coax to install the security cameras I've been wanting...
Don't you just love how small projects turn into big ones. I just wanted to temp control the rodent building, but ended up with running water, cable tv, computer networking, and security.
I'll post some pics in the next few days as I finish up.
