Hey all. I've got a normal girl who's been off feed for over a month now...she was a rescue found in someone's yard with some open cuts and weighing about 1400g while she was longer than my 2400g girl...anyways, she'd been eating wonderfully till breeding season came around and it was on and off. Usually she'd eat though, up until early May when she absolutely refused--of course, that was around the same time my male pastel finally 'figured things out', too. I wasn't worried since she was a solid 1950g and had been since early May. I weighed her three weeks ago and she was still at 1950g; I don't weigh her too often because she stresses so much when she's handled, and I'd rather just let her do her thing. I was cleaning cages today and weighed everyone else and figured, what the heck, I'd weigh Lara Croft, too. Turns out that after not having been fed in over a month, Lara Croft has grown to 2200g in three weeks.
I would have never thought she'd gained any weight at all unless I weighed her; she doesn't look swollen or like anything is wrong with her; she actually looks a little bit thinner than I like, but my scale is accurate (weighed her on two different scales, one digital and one mechanical). I can't figure out how or why she would have gained the weight so suddenly.I don't think she's gravid, but I suppose it's a possibility, though I never observed an ovulation. She was observed locking with my male three times, but it could have been up to 4, if they locked at nighttime when I was asleep. Does anyone have any ideas why? Anyone experienced this before?
Thanks for your help and time,
Brandi
