Man I had to hunt for this forum. I rarely make it here. I know some of you are trying to figure out how a Ball Python breeder produced Boas. I am trying to figure that out too. (p.s. we should have Corn Snake eggs soon too, probably in about 14 days). I can't tell you how excited I was and am to have produced our first Boas ever, and it just so happens to be our first babies of the year (they just barely beat the Balls that are due in 4 days).

A little history on this project. We bought our female Nicuraguan Boas in 2005 in Dayton. They were fancy farmed females ('05 was a small Boa craze, and everybody was out of Normal females). We actually bought these girls from Ben Siegel on Friday in Daytona, and had 4 people in line behind us to buy what was left over. There were 6 females and we bought 4. The guy behind us bought the last 2. I don't recall seeing any more at the show that year. In 2006, we bought a Het T+ male from Pete Kahl in Chicago. My goal has always been a T= Motley Nic (even before they were produced). I think I would like to see a T= Leopard as well, even though it would be a Nic / Sonoran cross.

With all of that said, we cycled our male Het T= through all of our females this year, and one took. Man this has been a long wait, especially since we didn't see ovulation, or track any of her sheds. We found out she was pregnant about 7-8 weeks ago while we were ultrasounding Balls, and I thought this girl was acting funny. Well, we saw little spines on the ultrasound, and knew what was coming. This morning I checked on this girl, and saw some urates, and the entire floor of her enclosure was soaking wet, even though her water bowl was still full. I didn't know what to expect, but when I got home, I saw the babies. I think I might like this Boa thing.

Anyway, I know this sie doesn't like bable, and would prefer to see pics, so here they are. This is a group of 10 babies, no slugs or dead babies, and they are all 50% Poss. Het for T+ Albino. We will be keeping a couple females. I haven't sexed them yet, as they are much more slippery than a Ball, and washing them was enough of a mess (I don't even want to go into bathing mom). I hope you enjoy the pics.
