Baby herps eat like crazy in the first year or two. I've raised enough of them to know this. So do most animals, for that matter. Like I said, I only feed them for the first year like this, and not all of them are so enthusiastic. I had a Eunectes murinus that didn't eat for the first five months I had her, but once she started: ooooh baby!

Don't want to turn this into a "feeding schedule" thread.
