At your recommendations I replaced the Carefresh with paper towels, which will be much easier to clean! I also ordered an Acu-rite thermo/hygro online, put up the "wallpaper," and added another hide. The new hide seemed too small at first, but he immediately showed a preference, even though it was on the cool side... so I switched it to the hot side, and he followed it over there.Here's a picture of how everything looks now, but ignore the 100% humidity reading (the device was still wet from cleaning - it's back to 55-60 now):
