I recently switched my BP over to rats and paper towels as the substrate. When she used to urate/poo when on aspen I never noticed much liquid around the poop/urate but now when she goes about half of the 32qt. tub's paper towels are soaked in liquid. The poop and urates are solid and not runny looking in any way.
Is this a normal thing that I just didn't notice when she was on aspen since liquids can travel much further distances in paper towels? Or is it a potential side effect of the switch to rats (a bigger prey item that carries more water, her getting bigger and therefore having bigger bms, etc.)? Or should I be planning to do a fecal exam the next time she poos?
Thanks,
Dennis
