Hmm, location of your tank might be a factor in temp fluctuations, as could type of heating you use.
Where in the room is the tank, in regards to vents and windows?
Also, I can't remember what you use for heating. UTH? 2? Flexwatt? Lamps?
From time to time, and in different locations, tanks just don't want to work. If you try everything you can, short of spending a fortune, and the tank temps still won't stabilize... you might be one of the candidates for tubs or display cages.
Let's give it a try first, though.
The tank is away from air vents. 20 feet or so. There is a big glass window about 10 feet away from the tank but I'm in Austin, TX so its hot/warm here, even at night. Its mainly the air-conditioning that messes with the ambient temp.
Reflexive would probably work a lot better than foam but I cant stand the way it looks.
