Relief Efforts for Bruce Whitehead

I'm sure almost everyone reading this is aware of the tragedy that hit our dear Bruce and his partner, Jerome. If not, the story begins here:

For Bruce and Jer, it's been a nightmarish rollercoaster of horror and joy and grief and tremendous loss. Unfortunately, they were not insured and will have to start from scratch to rebuild their home.

Some words from Bruce:

I guess the one thing I REALLY want people to know that if they can do nothing for us, and again we expect NOTHING... Then just do something nice for another person. If they drive past an emergency. Pick up a few coffees and drive back. If this happens in their neighbourhood, dive into the sock drawer and head out in the street to find those that are barefoot... All those little things make it a bit more bearable.

I love you all so much and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If nothing else, having snake people to talk to while I was going through this was a god send.

Virtual communities are so very real and tangible and play such a vital role for so many of us. It can never be underestimated the ways in which people make technology powerful instruments of peace.
