Updates - some weird stuff going on...
I've had my adult BP, Cu, for over a year now and she has always been a picky eater. This winter she fasted for 4 months. She won't take f/t. She refuses food for no reason.
But the strangest thing has been happening... during her fast, I offered mice and rats; she's eaten rats for the entire time she's been with me, but they can be weird and switch preferences. So, when she finally ate, it was the mouse she took, so I have been feeding her mice. Last week, I put the mouse in and turned around to sit on my couch (right next to her tub) and settle down for a long wait. I heard a little noise, and I turned around and the mouse was gone! Sure enough, I saw her eating it in her hide. Then, today, I gave her another mouse. This time, I blinked, heard the little scuffling noise, opened my eyes, and the mouse was gone. I am getting kind of scared. She has always taken at least ten minutes to inspect the prey before she deems it appropriate to eat. And now, out of the blue, she has such an appetite! Really weird. But hey, no complaints here! Maybe she'll start taking f/t! I would be ecstatic!!!
As for other updates... she went in for her 3rd injection of RI meds (hmm, maybe that's what's causing this sudden appetite?) on Thursday. It's been a month now, and she still has some bubbles around her mouth, but not as much as she did before. The vet thinks this dose should do it. Hopefully. But if all the bubbles and wheezing isn't gone by the end of next week, I'll bring her back in.
So, in short, I am one happy mom! My anorexic girl has noticed that she is hungry (very hungry, by the looks of it), and she is just about over her RI. Yaaaaay!
