Sorry about the photos. I'm having trouble posting the actual size. (I'm not very computer savy). But just click on the thumbnail the first two are the shed issue, the last is after being soaked the first time (eye caps left etc).
CT Reptile Rescue recently (04/07/09) took in this we bit of a ball python.
Very small for supposedly being a year and a half old. It is a female, she was bought along with a baby corn snake at a White Planes (NY) show. She was bought by the father of the family. (Mom, Dad two boys under the age of ten). She and the corn were bought for the two kids. Well the corn of course with being a baby may not be the most handleable for a child under ten. So as for the corn it was “adopted” out last year (within two weeks of purchase from the show) to a Petco employee.
Now the BP baby was handleable. (Big surprise compared to a corn snake baby) But that it got “too big”. Everyone is now scared of it.
I was told she was fed F/T mice twice a week.
Now the animal came to me in tank during transportation. (Again owners scared of animal)
The enclosure is a 20 long, hide on one side and water dish on the other. UTH under hide.
Now the lighting..... is called a “R-Zilla” Now I’ve never had these but there is an incandescent light fixture with some type of “night light” on the inside of the circular incandescent.
No heat is really put out by this thing. I didn’t even know they sold such a fixture.
I’ve since vet treated and the animal is now in quarantine. She came in with mites and some worms. She is now being treated. She also came in with so much stuck shed it was sad. I normally will soak and help routine. I did give her a couple of days in a natural setup (like with adequate heat and humidity) So she could shed what she could. Then I did soak her and help her shed. As you can tell from her photos she still has a head and eye cap shed to complete. When I helped her I knew she needed to soak more. I’ll give her a few more days and I know we’ll get her to be all setup as the beauty queen we know she can be.
Poor thing. May spend up to 90 or so days in quarantine if not longer. She is defiantly a wibit of a ball. (22 inches long).
Well she still needs a name. I’d like something about survivor, neglect, conquer etc. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Again a long post, sorry folks.
