Another Adoption
Well, when I decide to do something, I go all out. I answered a local ad for someone who was trying to re-home a pair of Bearded Dragons. The female Beardie was a sunburst Morph and was absolutely stunning. The young lady had a collection of various reptiles. Skinks, geckos of several different varieties, bearded dragons, anoles, and some snakes. Several other were there looking voer her reptile collection and it was obvious I was not going to get the sunburst dragon I came for. The young lady told me she had taken her father in and he has the beginning stages of Alzheimers and Dimentia. He also can't stand reptiles. See a pattern developing here?
Anyways, I was looking at a couple large viv's she was getting rid of and she offered me the 2 large vivs as well as a watering dish and some lights if i was interested in them for $35. I paid her and was loading the vivs into my truck when she called me back. She had seen me admiring her snakes which consisted of 2 Ball Pythons, a Reticulated Python, a Red Tailed Boa and a couple other boas. She told me how her father likes to go behind her when she's not paying attention and open the racks where the snakes are kept, thus allowing them to escape and run rampant through the house. She said a couple times she thought she was in a scene from Jumanji coming in to find reptiles running all over the house.
Anyways, she offered me the two Ball Pythons she had as well as the Red Tailed Boa. So, for $35 I got two large vivs and 3 Constrictors. I couldn't believe it when she actually bagged the snakes and handed them to me. She told me she wanted to make sure the snakes went to a good home and were taken care of by someone who appreciated them.
The RTB is getting ready to shed and she said it was a "Pigmy" RTB, if that makes any sense to anyone? She said this snake wouldn't get very long compared to "regular" RTB's. I'll be honest, I'm not too familiar with the RTB's and their different morphs, so if anyone can shed some light on that I would be very grateful.
I will post pics when the snake has settled down into her new surroundings. I don't want to disturb it now, especially with it getting ready to shed and so forth. I want to give it the space it needs to get comfortable. So, stay tuned for pics in the coming days once she sheds...
Later,
Bri
