New snake didn't eat friday night

I tried to feed my snake a mouse last friday night and it didn't take it within the first 45 minutes. The snake has been with me since feb. 20 and the last times it has eaten anything was on 1.30.09 and 2.16.09. The guy I adopted it from said he was feeding it live food and therefore, I decided it would be best to try a live mouse right away until it gets into a regular feeding schedule with me. f/t after that... Anyway, the regular behavior of the snake seems to be hiding all day and active for most of the night, which I know is normal. The two identical hides I have for it might not be the tightest, but they're definitely close enough. They're rectangular and he probably has 3-4 inches from the entrance to where he lays coiled up in the back. I can't seem to find any reason, other than he's still pretty new, to be stressed. Temps are pretty constant: cool side 80-83F/ambient 83-86/warm side 88-92. I know the warm side fluctuates a bit much, but 90% of the time it's +/- 2 degrees @90F. Humidity is always around 50-65%. I did handle him about four times in the first week for about 10-15 minutes each time. The tank is only open on one side, with the rest wrapped with an aquarium background. The only thing I can think of, other than he's still fairly new, is that I have a tv about 4 feet away from the tank. I only watch tv a couple hours at most everyday. Any ideas?

I don't think that the TV particularly would disturb him, unless you play it loudly when you do.

I'd stop all handling for now. What are you using to measure your temps?

How old is this snake (approximately) and how large is the enclosure?

    Is it definitely a male?

Have you taken a look at our BP.net caresheet? It has a section "why won't my snake eat?" that gives a list of variables that you can go through to see if you can improve anything.

No, I don't play it loud.

Snake is roughly 3 years old.

The guy I got it from said it is a male. It's pretty lean and he seems to know his snakes quite well.

Enclosure is a 55 gallon with a few plants and a couple pieces of wood.

Here's a pic of the tank.

And no, that stick on termo is not how I'm measuring temps. I have two accurites and a flukers. One of the accurites was for my personal use for my apt, but haven't taken it out yet.
