waterfalls to keep humidity up??
we live in southern california soo most of the time its pretty dry. would it be a good idea to get a waterfall to keep humidity up or should we just keep misting the cage... also we have a humidity gage but it is rather high up on the glass ( girlfriends idea not mine) would this throw the humidity off??

Re: waterfalls to keep humidity up??
Waterfalls are for looks more than anything. I would suggest misting more often. Higher up will make it complicated, but basically you can still gauge better than nothing.
Also, you can put a water dish over the warm side, that will bump your humidity as well.
Where in So Cal are you? I'm in the Rowland Heights area...

Re: waterfalls to keep humidity up??
I have a waterfall that keeps the humidity constant around 60-65% i have no need to mist any more unless its shed time. they do actually work quite well for humidity.

Re: waterfalls to keep humidity up??
I live in Southern California as well, and I also had an issue with humidity. Cover the screen lid, leaving a couple holes on each end for ventilation, and put your water dish over the UTH. Also, if you're using some sort of heat bulb - put it on a thermostat, so that it's not constantly on and sucking your humidity. With my aluminum foil cover I made, the water bowl over the UTH, and my heat bulb in a thermostat my humidity stays at 55%.

Yes, that could be one reason.
