is my male ball right for breeding?
soo my ball has a great personality and he is really chill. he is very active and really a healthy snake. how would i know if he is right for breeding... besides the markings and the look of the snake what do you look for when thinking about breeding....

Re: is my male ball right for breeding?
Well for one he needs to be at a good breeding weight, at least 700g, some breed sooner. and unless he has some deformities/kinks he's breedable
P.S. I've never seen an ugly BP

I'm not sure temperment can be passed down in BPs like it can be in dogs and cats. Unless of course you count the fact that 95% or more of all BPs are pretty chill and have great personalities.

Re: is my male ball right for breeding?
male ball pythons can breed when you notice they are producing sperm slugs . . . they look like a yellowish/whitish blob, some males will produce sperm slugs as early as thier first few months of birth
i dont breed my males unless they are above 800 grams most people say that 600 grams is fine, i noticed someone else posted that 700 grams was what they bred theirs at, but its upto you . . . breeding your males when they are too small might harm them in the long run so you might want to make sure, females should be above 1000 grams but i dont breed mine unless they are 1500 grams or over. males tend to breed in their 1st-2nd second winter and females are between their 2nd-3rd winters again depending on their size, but dont power feed them to get them to breeding weight its very unhealthy and may cause problems down the road.
I'm not tryin to be rude or upset you but if you are thinkin about breeding ball pythons then i would suggest you do some research maybe grab a ball python book which has a breeding section or read over some of the breeding forums on here and read some of the FAQ which have been answered by some of the ball python experts.
hope this helped!!
Cheers!

Is there such a thing?
Either by weight or when you can see plugs is a safe mark for attempting to breed a male.
