thermostats/hydrostats
does anybody know if the repti-temp500r have dual probes for individual temps, or just just two plugs to control two devices at the same temp?
i would like some recomendations on dual temp thermostats and ones that have the hydrostat built in.
im looking for quality but not necessarily the most expensive.
i have a 40L.

the reptitemp is no more than an expensive, glorified rheotstat. If you want a reliable, accuate, thermostat, i would recomend Johnson Controlls, Helix, Ranco, Herpstat or Spyder Robotics.
I had a reptitemp 500R, and replaced it within weeks because it was TERRIBLE. there is no temperature setting, just a dial. Thermostats dont read humidity, for that you need a hydrometer. Accurite sells a thermometer/hydrometer combo with a probe. you can find it at walmart, target, lowes, etc and its less than 15 bucks. Great investment.

It does not have dual probes, just a power strip for several heating devices.
The only tstats with dual probes are the Herpstat II and Pro (4 probes), but neither have humidity control.

He's talking about thermoSTATS, not thermoMETERS.

..and i told him about thermoSTATS and something that measures humidity. He asked about the 500, and to me, its a terrible piece of equipment. I dont really know about duel probes on thermostats, mine only has a single probe.

Re: thermostats/hydrostats
been using 500's for years without issue. Don't use em for my incubator or breeding females, but they work great for everyone else.

Re: thermostats/hydrostats
I should also say it does take some tinkering to get the temps just right, but once they are set, they are good to go.
