Question about substrate and feeding

Sorry if this has been asked before but...

I'm thinking about switching Karma over to feeding in her tank because from what I've read on here it seems like it really helps reduce their stress. However, I'm using coconut husk bedding and I just want to make sure she doesn't ingest too much of it since I feed f/t.

For others who feed f/t in the same enclosure with similar substrate...what methods do you use?? Or what would you suggest??

I usually feed on a piece of cardboard or even a paper towel, but I feed f/t...if you feed live, I'm not sure how you would prevent it.

I keep mine in aspen and to prevent aspen ingestion, I place a piece of newspaper on top of the aspen and then offer the f/t rodent on top of that.

I find myself flipping hides before I feed so they can eat in it instead of shavings. Once I flip the hides they seem to become more alert and ready for food. --Josh

I keep all of my ball pythons on aspen shavings it works great for humidity and temps not to mention it is pretty easy to clean, i feed my snakes in a seperate rubbermaid container with newspaper as bedding, i have heard alot of people say they dont feed their snakes in the same containers as they are housed in simply for the fact that when you stick your hand into their habitat they might mistake ur hand for food because they are used to you droppin the food into their habitat, so its up to you but IMO i think its safer to feed them away from there homes
