No way to tell other than trusting the breeder or proving him out. Het ghost males are fairly inexpensive anyway.

Re: Het Ghost?? You tell me

A heterozygous recessive snake (like your het ghost) will not look any different from a Normal. It only carries one gene, and the pattern/colors of the actual morph won't show without two.

Now, some het's are believed to have markers, like pieds, but they're not always present when a het is proven, or sometimes regular normals have the markings.

Only way to know if your 'het ghost' is honestly a het ghost, is to get a female Ghost and breed them together and see if any of the offspring is a Hypo (Ghost). I say an already visual Ghost because Het x Het pairings don't guarantee a visual morph right away and can take a long time to prove out.

If you did not get a paper signed from the breeder with a pic of the snake then i would not trust it.It is so easy for someone to say trust me and it will be 3yrs or more before you find out if you got jacked or not.So you be the judge

Even breeding to a visual does not guarantee you will produce a homozygous (Visual) offspring even if the Het in question is truely a Het. Bad Odds Happen!
It does though give you a better chance / odds than using another Het to prove out the one in question.

Yep yep. I only mentioned the visual because of the better odds

Re: Het Ghost?? You tell me

If the breeder was trying to cheat someone I can think of a lot of other Hets they would lay claim to before ghost considering het male ghost might get just barely more than a normal male. (Unless it is a proven breeder, then it might go for double the price of a baby het ghost male according to my research of the market.)

Your big problem is the long road ahead of you if you plan on actually making ghosts using him. If you are lucky you may have a ghost in a couple of "years". If the het route is the way you are going then all I have to say is relax and enjoy. Single gene male het recessives tend to be cheap, but that is due to the fact that without a het female it will take you a minimum of 4years to prove it out and that is if the odds are in your favor and you have a normal female that is ready to breed.
