Talking Another hobby-- fostering kittens (pics)

I would like to share one of my favorite hobbies. Herping is great, but the fosters were really fun...

This summer, I went to my local Humane Society and took home 3 tortoiseshell feral kittens that had been found as strays. They were around 8 weeks old and were very, very mean. After two weeks of hard work at my house, they were the sweetest kittens you ever did see! They were all sisters, whom I named Abby, Bethy, and Cloud. I brought them back to the Humane Society, where they were soon adopted to loving families.

A month or so later, I got some more fosters. I got a mother cat (Mommy) and her two 5-week-old tabby kittens (Kit and Kat), who were all very sick. I gave them their antibiotics 3x per day, fed them, snuggled with them, and played with them. It was the most magical experiance to watch the tiny things that used to fit in my hand learn to walk and run and play. They got into all kinds of mischeif. It broke my heart to bring them back, all plump and healthy, but I'm sure they'll find loving homes.

Anyways, there is my little rant about fostering kittens. It was such a fun experiance for me. Since I can't drive, I don't get to go to the Humane Society very often (I'm a volunteer there), but I found a way to bring my volunteer work home. Humane Societies all over need foster parents to help out cats and dogs that aren't fit to be adopted. The Humane Society offered to provide me with food and litter for the kittens, but I decided to buy some myself. Fostering is a great way to save lives and have loads of fun at the same time. The hardest part is giving them up!
