    Andrew...

As a new keeper with a new snake... one thing to note, is that if your snake is spending a lot of time trying to get away... that may be a sign that she is stressed and it would be best to just put her down for the day.

BPs are not like cats and dogs, and they do not have the same social needs. They are shy snakes, so being dropped is VERY stressful for them.

I handle mine a few times a week max, and never for more than 15 minutes max. I never put them down or let them out of my sight.

I keep more snakes mind you. But one thing you will learn in time is how to judge your snakes' body language.

Being concerned about dropping her is a great thing. Seriously, it is good for you to learn to be attentive.

But if it was a short distance, then as noted previously, keep an eye on her in case she is injured, but chances are she is OK. Do not make yourself nuts over it, but learn from the experience.

That is a horrible story. Onc you might not want to be using as an example of how dropping a snake is OK.
