Question about breeding
After a breeding, how long does a female need to rest and regroup to be able to breed again?

Re: Question about breeding
About an hour. That is a joke, but it doesn't reallly matter. The males are the ones that need to be watched, so that they don't breed themselves to death. I have never heard of a female having complications from breeding.

I thought they would get all empty and sucked up. So you're saying after she lays eggs, I can just feed her a rat and put her with another male? I wouldn't do that but it is a sample question. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Question about breeding
No Tim was talking about copulation. Your question wasnt clear thats what I thought too.
Laying eggs is a different story, I usually wait a few day after laying to try feeding. You also want to make sure you wash the female down good to remove any scent from the eggs, this scent may cause her to coil and strike as if she still is protecting eggs.
As far as breeding again you need to wait 8 or 9 months to make sure she has out her weight back on and is cycling again.

Re: Question about breeding
I see confusion building here.
In your original post, you ask about how long after "breeding" a female could be bred again. But breeding is one of those much-used words that are used in several different contexts. Most of us consider a breeding to be a copulation (one lock or mating session). And, in general, a female is 'bred' several times a season before she actually ovulates and lays eggs. Thus.... Tim's response (ie even if she just locked up with one male, she could lock up with another male almost immediately). So she could be 'bred' several times, see?
As for how often you can get your girl to produce a clutch (ie lay eggs), It's generally one clutch a year, to give the girl time to put weight back on and get healthy again.
Hope it helps.

Re: Question about breeding
Oh I see. Sorry for the confusion.. Im a newbie and don't know how to ask it right hehe.. Yeah I mean after laying eggs.... So now I have my answer and more!
Now you guys brought up something I never thought of.. "Mating several times".
I would ask why, but I already assume it's to make sure she got done up right. Please correct me if I assumed wrong.
So what would happen if one female mates with 3 different morph males and that they all did a perfect job with her?
