Thermostat placement
So where do you guys recomend placing the probes for your thermostat and thermometer. Right now I have them both right next to each other on the bottom of the tub under the newspaper. The Acurite is reading 86.5 while the Newtek Thermostat is set to almost 100. I know its kinda a cheap thermostat but I didn't think it would be that bad. I'm just trying to control a piece of flexwatt right now.
I have the thermostat, acurite thermometer, and a IR temp gun to use in monitoring temps. Do those who use acurites actually peel off the white paper and stick it in a certain spot?

Re: Thermostat placement
Your thermostat probe ought to be on the flex watt and the Acu-Rite probe ought to be on the bottom of the tub
I can't speak for the accuracy of that type of thermostat since I have never heard of it before.

Re: Thermostat placement
bottom of tub underneath substrate? or on top of substrate...
The goal is to get substrate surface temp to right about 92 right? so if its underneath the substrate then the acurite would probably read a little higher (depending on substrate). Do you actually stick your probe to the tub or just let it dangle in there (guess it doesnt matter if its under substrate)
Thanks!

Re: Thermostat placement
The thermostat probe is on the flex watt-- not in the tub.
The thermometer probe is inside the tub and under the substrate as ball tend to go under things

Surface meaning the bottom of the tank, inside, under substrate.. Put the probe for thermometer against the glass on the bottom of the tub. The white does come off and stick.

Re: Thermostat placement
So if the acurite reads 92 under the substrate then the IR temp gun will probably show about 88-90 on the surface (depending on substrate)?
Thanks!
