Getting a new cage!
I'm so excited. My BP George has been living in a 50gallon for a while and even though the warm and cool side temps are ok and the humidity is fine its probably still too much space for him and everything that i have read just says 50g is overkill... Well tomorrow somebody will be coming to buy the 50g from me and George will go back into his 31qt tub, that is until I get him a real cage.
Right now I'm leanin towards AP because it is the type of cage I want at a price I will be able to afford. The RBI ones are really nice but for the 2x3x12 its another $60.
A third option that I am considering is from a local guy who makes "Happy Snake Reptile Enclosures".
http://www.happysnakecages.com/products.htm
They are made with 3/4" partical board laminated with linoleum and sealed with Sillicone II with anti-microbial Bio-seal and using 1/4" plexiglass.
I might be able to pick up one of those used for $75 which is dirt cheap for a quality cage. but those are 4x2 which is a little big once again for Mr. George.
If you have any other suggestions on caging to look at please bring them forth. This is just my super excited post about getting rid of my glass pain in the butt. I shall now start shopping until the January 3rd show in Pamona where I hope to be able to pick up a nice cage for a fair price.
Thanks!

Re: Getting a new cage!
I was actually doin some research on that myself last night (instead of studyin for finals)... I think that looks like the path I'm going to take, it will give me something to do over winter break... I love projects! and its something my arts and craft loving girlfiend can help me with. granted carpentry is not making bead jewelry its closer than video games
Thanks!

Re: Getting a new cage!
making your own cage can be fun, and don't worry about carpentry! The kind you're looking to do is pretty simple, it's not like making fancy-designed nightstands or anything. Making a box is about as easy as it gets.

Re: Getting a new cage!
Well its official!
the glass tank is gone... the UTH is off and glue free, I'll hook it up in a bit to make sure I didnt damage it... George is transferred into his tub (I came up with a cool way to do that) and I should now study for finals... but all i want to do is start drawing up plans for my cage... not that its going to be that complex, i'm just excited...
now for the way I transferred him (without stressing him out)...
I pulled him out of the glass tank and put him on the lid of the tub which was not currently on the tub. There was a rat in the tub at the time, and the rest is history (especially the rat)... he is now sleepin like a baby in his warm hide in a brand new, clean tub...
Thanks!
