    How often to mist?

Hey guys, just wondering, i have a 10 gal viv with (currently) an overhead heat lamp that will be changed o a UTH as soon as i get another pay check. My question is that i have been having a hard time keeping humidity up, so i mist the sides of the cage, but how many times should i be doing this a day? thanks bunches in advance!!!

I once had a set up just like that and I would use a combo temp/humid meter in the tank. And when I saw my humidity level fall below my target%, I would then mist. You can pick them up real cheap at Wal-Mart.
Also I used Newspaper as my substrait, held moisture very well and also cheap and easy to come by. Hope this helps.

    Re: How often to mist?

I have to preface my entry with - I've only had the snakes for less than 3 months, so I'm no expert...

But, I have successfully maintained 50% humidity in my 55 gal tank by taping tin foil on 2/3 of the screen top, switching to a cypress bed substrate (T-rex brand) and misting when I wake up and before I fix dinner. The ceramic heat lamp that I use zap humidity... so the cypress bed with the misting counter-acts that.

    Re: How often to mist?

There is no answer to this really. It depends not only on the enclosure used but also the ambient humidity of the area you live in as well has you temps.

If you have trouble keeping humidity you can

Switch to a substrate that holds humidity better (Repti-bark, Cypress mulch etc)
Have an additional water dish on the warm side
    Have a humid hide
Partially cover the top of your enclosure
    Etc

Here is a good thread about tank setup.
