    Weighed my Mojave last night

546 grams. He's a little over two feet long, and was hatched May 11th 08. Perfectly healthy snake, I would have posted pictures but I couldn't get a good shot. Perfect temperament, he is such a friendly relaxed snake. active a lot in the evening/night and seems to like watching me at my desk. I just started feeding him small/medium sized rats once a week, but I think the mediums sized rats are a bit too big for him yet, but thats what happens when you have unreliable pet stores like me.
I was curious if anyone had any thoughts/tips on our feeding habits or if they sounds fine. He has a great appetite and hasn't had any problem at all taking live small rats.

Sounds like a healthy and growing snake!!
I would think that mediums might be too large-- it's always better to err on the side of too small than too large

I agree with Starmom - you don't want to overfeed a male....

I have a couple boys that are over 1000gms that can eat a med rat, but I still give them smalls. They don't need to get fat or they will be too lazy to get their job done.

Big girls get smalls and mediums - and they are getting fat!! And hanging out on the cool side, laying inverted and hanging out in their water dishes....

    Fun times!!!

Thanks! I try to get the smallest rat available, but sometimes that quite difficult at my pet stores.
He is by no means lazy right now. between him and my RTF's I have a very loud room at night.
