Re: gorilla tape instead of aluminum tape?
It's not really the strength that matters but its ability to remain stuck when heat is added. I don't know about the gorilla tape, but foil tape is what I have always used

Re: gorilla tape instead of aluminum tape?
but my question is will it withstand the heat of the heat tape.

I have some on my Golden's tank holding a UTH in place and it's still holding stong. How hot does the heat tape get? My guess is it would hold up to 100 degrees, but that is a guess since the temp of my UTH is 90-92 degrees.

Re: gorilla tape instead of aluminum tape?
from every time I've used it, it works great at room temp or colder, but it doesn't like heat. it still holds, but the adhesive is less effective. personally, i'd try foil tape

Re: gorilla tape instead of aluminum tape?
Oh....and I found this:
"Gorilla Tape, manufactured by the makers of Gorilla Glue, strikes a delicate balance between strength and usability – providing the maximum amount of sticking power without sacrificing ease of use. It’s weather resistant, too, withstanding extreme temperatures below freezing and above 170 degrees, a point when other tapes fail."
here's the link to it:

Re: gorilla tape instead of aluminum tape?
well good to know that gorilla tape can be used in case one does not have foil tape handy. personally I'll probably stick with foil tape, but knowing there is a decent alternative gives peace of mind. thanx for the info and link.

Re: gorilla tape instead of aluminum tape?
I think gorilla tape would work but I would just run to my home depot and get some aluminum tape. They should still be open unless your on the east coast.
