    Talking He is a killer...

as I have mentioned in my introduction, I thought my BP ate a f/t springer rat, but I had to find out he just visciously grabbed it, pulled it in his cocoa shell hide and started to cuddle with it....
So I waited for an other 4 days and tried a live mouse on him and..... boom, there he goes...... guess it took less than 10 sec and the lil rodent was gone!
I think the problem was, that he was in a shed and me dumbass was unable to see..... coz i found a complete shed skin in his box.
The mouse had to go anyway because he was a male, sold as an female and two male mice in a cage end up in an bloddy massacre, but this far I am quite happy with my two new snakes...
(The corn had his second f/t pinkie out of my hand with no complains)

Greetz from good old germany and sorry for the lotta smilies, just had 2 of the good old german beer...

One of my snakes did that once, they killed the prey but didnt eat it. What you do in a case like that is to get some tongs, pick up the rodent they just killed and offer it to them like you would with a f/t. After I did that he took it and finally ate it.

Yeah, with some snakes its sorta hard to tell when they are in shed. I can only imagine how hard it is to tell if a BEL is in shed or not.

    Re: He is a killer...

Well the rat springer was more than dead, so he did not have to kill it, but it was warm, cause i used a hair dryer to heat it up a little, comfortable little heat pillow...
That night i thought it would be better not to disturb him any more, so I chilled, he as well and finally that worked out fine...

    Re: He is a killer...

My normal has done this as well. Sometimes he takes it in the hide to eat, other times eats outside, sometimes has had a sleepover with his new favourite rodent pal!(not since switching to rats though)

He had two fluffs last feed, the 2nd rat he just grabbed by the head and swallowed without coiling. Feeding time is never the same twice, keeps things interesting

    Re: He is a killer...

Well, he did it a again, one of my new female mice, supposed to be a breeder, had to walk the rainbow-bridge, my lil boy looked so hungry and I guess he was, cause the lil minnie just had 2 seconds on the forceps before he striked...... no discussion, if you are furry, you are dinner!
His great feeding response is a real relief to me, because he is ch/captive hatched from Ghana and I was prepared for big trouble in little china, but by now it seems i am housing a little eating machine...
