    Question Too much humidity?

I live in Florida and it has been ridiculously humid over the past few days. I have a 50 gallon tank and it has been a consistent 50-65% humidity. Over the past few days the humidity has increased to around 80%. I have opened up the top to let more outside air in but the issue is that the ambient humidity in the air is also around 80%.

Is this something I should be concerned about/ is there anything I can do?

    Re: Too much humidity?

A few days of extra humidity won't hurt anything. A fan blowing near (but not directly on) the enclosure might help some, though. Just be sure to keep the enclosure clean and free of any mold or mildew growth. If your humidity is always that high, then you might consider getting a de-humidifier for the room.

Like i said, enjoy it while it lasts! Just make sure your cage isnt sopping wet! Judy makes a great point though, a fan in the room circulating the air would help! Good luck. I live in florida as well so i know what you mean.

many see too hung up on humidity. The first part is the difference between the room and the enclosure if your room is 80% and the enclosure is also 80% there is no issues at all. If the room were 30% and the enclosure were 80% then this could be of concern as the substrate could be too wet or there could be to little ventilation. It isn't as much the number but the differential that denotes an issue.
