    Question about breeding ghosts

As far as breeding ghosts goes, do the different variations have to be paired to each other to make ghosts? IE...breeding a green ghost to an orange ghost..outcome would be greens and oranges? or just greens? or just oranges? or nothing? or....who knows?

    Re: Question about breeding ghosts

That is a question I've been wondering myself. I know in some ads I see "This ghost is compatible with all major lines" but I don't know if that is for all ghost varieties or just the one (green, butterscotch, etc.)

If I had to guess I would say a green ghost bred to an orange ghost would produce ghosts, but I don't know what kind. Is the green, orange, etc. part proven genetic or just attained through selective breeding?

hypos are all the same -- ie NERDs orange line came about because their green line started looking orangy so they called them orange ghosts -- then someone decided their orange ghost was more orange than the normal orange ghost so they called it a butterscotch ghost -- but it's all the same stuff.

    Re: Question about breeding ghosts

There are a few lines that are not compatable with most ghost lines I know Graziani has one and I think there are a couple more. They are usually specified as a different lines.

Most green, yellow, orange and butterscotch are compatable.

    Re: Question about breeding ghosts

All lines are definately NOT compatable. Most lines are but there is always the possibility of having incompatable lines.

There is no suich thing as a yellow ghost, orange ghost, buterscotch ghost etc. These names are meaningless and have more to do with marketing than anything. Side by side you cant tell them apart.

Most ghost lines are compatable but there are exeptions.

I have seen identical looking ghosts bred together to produce all normals and I have seen green ghosts bred to orange ghosts and produced all ghost offspring.

I would advise anyone to stick on one lineage or at least to lineages that are known to be compatable.

    Totally true and good advice
Isn't there like a blue one that is not compatible?

Also, has anyone ever seen these "peach ghosts"? I know ralph davis produced a few but havent seen them personally or don't know if its just another color or would they be compatible with the existing colors?

    Possibly stupid question here..

if they were both visual ghosts, wouldn't that make all the normal looking offspring 100% het for 2 different ghost lines?

If so, I wonder what both the ghost lines bred successfully together would look like? A sweet mac daddy lookin' ghost? Or just another ghost thats more compatible w/ others?
