Re: Police here have no lives..

Okay, I will agree that if they are sitting side by side for hours doing nothing then that is not productive. But I also know that cops do not have a desk to work at and when they have to fill out a report sometimes instead of driving all the way to the station it is more productive to stay in there work area and fill that report out in there car. And while doing that it is also safe for them to have someone parked next to them that can pay attention to things around them so that they do not get sneaked up on. Again it helps to know all the circumstances before passing judgment. And while I'm thinking about it the OP was not in complaint to them sitting around doing nothing. It was a complaint about them doing there job. And to many of them responding.

You should know since you live in Ontario. All G2 Drivers under the age of 18 or 19 or some crap can't drive between 12-6 am with passengers under the age of 18 unless they're immediate family.

Re: Police here have no lives..

I actually wanted to be a police officer and work with the K9 unit. But life happened and that didn't become a reality. I am very glad for all the work the Police do and understand most of what and why they do it. But one thing that really bugs me (one of my biggest pet peeves period for anyone) is when they don't use their blinkers.
I see it way too much from a group who is supposed to enforcing the law yet they can't do it themselves. Just makes me want to call up the Police station and tell them they need to get car # whatever in to the garage to be fixed, their blinker isn't working.

    Ok, I'm done complaining.

It's true that everyone in todays world need to be cautious, but the police around here srsly have nothing better to do. Another example of that is I live across the street from my church's parking lot. almost EVERY night you can catch 2-3 cars sitting side by side .. for hours. Talking about nothing one would assume due to its regular occurances and legth of time.

I thought the cops were stalking me, or checking out the house for a little while there until I got my licence and when driving around at 12-1am you can catch this happening all over town. 2-3 cars sitting in parking lots. It's dumb.
my understanding is... procedure asks for backup, every officer in the area responds so there is always someone going to the scene instead of hearing "i thought you were going to go" Its for the officers safety, as well as the public. You dont know what these teens could have or do.. come on doesnt anyone watch the news? How many officers have to be killed before the officers can be looked at as the good guy? I know there have been FOUR within two counties recently, FOUR officers killed DOING THEIR JOB! if people werent breaking the law there would be nothing to worry about.

It is the end of the month, and cops need to fill their quota. They are supposed to do a certain number of pull overs and arrests per month, so sometimes they make a big scene out of nothing, just so they don't get in trouble from their higher ups.
I know a guy who got a $115 ticket for going 2 over the speed limit. Its just ridiculous.

Officers are seriously people too. they have families, children, parents, celebrate holidays, exc just like everyone else. They dont get off on pulling people over, ruining your day, exc. TRUST ME

Re: Police here have no lives..

I think it's probably profiling, and not just straight racism. When I was younger, whenever I drove into the city I'd get pulled over and pulled out of my car and searched, and have my car searched. It was always because I was a young white guy in a black neighborhood. The cops would tell me that was the reason everytime. I lived right on the border of a not so good area, so it happened all the time. In areas that are predominantly one race, cops see anyone who "doesn't belong there", especially at night and especially kids, as potentially being up to no good. It's not right and it is profiling, but I think that's what cops are trained to do. It's not just white cops messing with black people. It happened to my sister-in-law and her fiance just a few weeks ago a block away from their friend's house near Western and North Ave., and they're 31 years old.

Can you honestly speak for every officer of the law in the entire country when you say this? Believe or not, some people do get off on power, especially when it comes easy.

I'm not saying that every cop in the universe is a racist jerk who always abuses his authority, but likewise, not every cop is a saint either.

Just as there are responsible pet owners and irresponsible ones.
