Little Bob Irwin to get his own show?

I loved watching the Croc Hunter and seeing his passion for wildlife and would be thrilled to see it continue with his children. I see nothing wrong with it, children follow in their parents footsteps all the time, how is this any different from a lawyer or doctor, celebrity or not? I just can't see it as exploitation.

Bindi has her own show, I think hers started when she was like 6. It was a good show for kids.

I didn't vote. Mainly because looking at it from a parents prospective of it depends on the child. I have a 5 year old and a 4 year old.

My son now 5, absolutely not. He is quiet, a little shy and extremely smart. He would much rather sit and look at books, bugs, and explore.

My daughter however, who is 4, and if little Bob is anything like her. Loves the spotlight. She would love it, and eat it up Everything is about her always, and if someone tries to steal her spotlight, she'll let them know. Yes she is a Leo

However the most important thing here and I can't stress this enough. Is that his Mom listens to him. If he doesn't like doing it, she stops. They don't force him into it, or to finishing filming. He is 4 after all. I know if my daughter or son told me they didn't like something they were doing, especially something like that. I would talk to them about it, and if they didn't want to I would never even dream of making them continue, and we are not talking about going to time out here, we are talking about TV.

So all in all, I don't think they are exploiting him, I think they are giving him an opportunity to be want he wants to be. Like his Dad. I see nothing wrong with it as long as its something he wants to do.

4 year olds aren't capable of making large decisions like that, however they are very capable of announcing their likes and dislikes.

i dont think its exploiting him at all, and i also dont think that it is weird for them to watch their dad every morning...

if it comforts them, then power to them. their dad was so influential to alot of people, why not make him a daily part of his own kids lives? so they know what kind of legacy he lead? we all know what he did, and the impact he made. we all watched his shows almost daily. i dont see anything wrong with that.

and i agree with kristy, as long as their mom listens when they say they want to stop, then im fine, most little boys wanna be like their dad when they are young like that. so i dont see a problem seeing as with anything, any animal, stuff like that, if you teach kids from a young age to respect animals, and stuff, they normally continue doing that, why not reach kids at a young age?

I voted that I don't care, but I think it is vile and stupid. And shame on Terri Irwin.

Now that their dad isn't around, they are going to make his son into a clone. Including wrestling with crocs and alligators.

Too bad the networks could not find anyone that could sell as much advertising as Steve.

Networks do not produce shows to enlighten and entertain, they produce them based on markets and advertising.

Upon initially reading this post I did not think it was that nasty, but the more I think about the more loathsome it becomes. I am so glad I do not watch TV.

Steve Erwin was my hero, my role model..
I think it's cool that there son get's the chance to carry on the dream that his dad had, of conservation through education.
If that's what he wants to do, then no-one can stop him.
But I do agree that this is something that should not be forced on a youngster...
I guess it's up to them... But I'll watch!!!

The media isn't "exploiting" this kid. It's not like they're taking a poor kid from the slums and offering to work him to death so his parents can make tons of cash that they don't already have. They're offering to have this kid from an already incredibly rich family get an opportunity to have a show like his dad did. I guarantee you that whatever reason his mom has for agreeing to this, at least I'm 100% confident it isn't money.

That being said, it is very easy to overwork kids on TV, and I hope that the family takes care to make sure that doesn't happen to the little guy. However, I don't think people complained about mary kate/ashley olsen being too young when they were brought on full house. It is quite possible for a TV producer to be ethical when working with kids on producing shows.
