    New RBI Cage

    Hi Everyone,

I am looking into getting a Reptile Basics Cage (3x2x14") but I have some questions.

To anyone that has this type of cage, it doesn't appear to have any ventilation holes - how do you keep good airflow in there? Also, I want to use a RHP on the top and a UTH for belly heat - do these units accommodate a UTH? Does this unit sit flush on a service or are there little feet to raise it a little - (need airflow for the UTH)??

I would like to order this unit today but wanted some input from you guys.

    Thanks.

They have small ventilation holes on the back wall up high. You can order with flexwatt heat installed. It will be inserted between the bottom of the cage and the floor. If you call Rich, he will answer his phone and gladly answer any questions that you might have or he will answer emails promptly.

    Re: New RBI Cage

I have been emailing with Rich at Reptile Basics and his last email to me was that if I order the enclosure with an overhead RHP then I don't need a UTH (belly heat) - I thought this was odd since I was under the impression that they must have belly heat.

    Your thoughts.

Here is what Rich sent me: Thanks for the email,Generally speaking that is vast overkill and unnecessary, especially if you went with the 80 watt panel. You can order a pad separately in the heating category if you felt it necessary but I would caution you against it. You will not need the belly heat with the panel. The panel heats the floor of the cage and actually is a far better mimic of the real world heating situation with the sun.
