Re: Is this worth it?
No Problem, I Agree The Babies Should Have A Few Feedings Before I Sell Them, And I See That Now. There Is Nothing Wrong With Asking Questions. But One Thing Is True. I Was Very Honest About The Fact That The Baby Had Not Had A Meal Yet. By The Way I Shrimp In Hernando And My Boat Has A Little 4 Cyl Perkins So I Burn No Fuel, Maybe 50$ A Night So I Am Just Trying To Get The Engine Finished So I Can Go Back Out. Thats Why I Was Rushing, Trying To Sell Some Snakes. But I Agree That A Good Practice Would Be To Have Them Eating First. And Again I Have Never Sold Babies Until This Season. I Thankyou For All Of Your Comments, And Fyi My Snakes Are Healthy.

First let me say it takes guts to come to a forum and stand up for yourself that way Bravo!
Now you say
if any of you are hatching out snakes right now, you would know that nothing is selling.
I'll have to call BS on that hand my friend people are selling stuff left and right. The problem is that it's just not flying off the shelf like candy. Well guess what that's part of business.
i will put my spider up against the best spider out there, and i am sure it will eat within the next week.
I wouldn't.. yes it looks nice but its a non-started baby that anyone who had any respect for their customers wouldn't even consider offering for sale. The look of the animal is only slightly with in your control. How ever getting it to eat is and that is part of quality and because your snake isn't eating I'd say its bottom of the barrel as far as over all quality. That would be like going to the car dealership and having them say "oh is a great looking car..not sure if it runs but hey it looks good"
I have 5 more clutches of eggs hatching and need to move some stuff.
Why? can you not house and feed everything you plan to produce if thats the case let me let you in on a little secret that a wise man once shared with me. Ready Taking note ......You should have thought of that prior to trying to breed for five clutches. If you can't house and feed the animals you produce. Guess what YOU DON"T PRODUCE THEM!!!!! or you breed Sea Monkeys or something you can handle.
but like most people in this economy you propably don't have the money. so when money is scarce what do they do. they slash prices.
You know funny the thing I only see that mentality at Garage sales.."hey that half working grill ain't move..Slash that price by half." Whens the last time you saw your local Jag dealership say "People Ain't Buy so Were giving them away"
They don't lower their prices just cause the economy is bad. If you can't afford a 350.00 Spider guess what you can't buy one.
Call BaileyandBailey see if they have any spiders left, or 8ball, or VPI, I can guarantee they aren't "slashing prices" their saleing every spider they can produce every year and guess what their getting market value for them.
Now for the helpful part.. Breath..get the little spider to eating and put 350.00 on him and sale him..hes worth it. By you putting 150.00 on him your saying to your customers "I don't think hes worth 350." keep with the market prices, produce quality animals and have fun. The money is the aftermath of all of that.
Best of luck!

Re: Is this worth it?
Another note on "balls not selling"... You said this is your first year breeding so what are you comparing your sales to?? I could see if this was your 2nd or 3rd year and you were saying your snakes arent selling this year compared to last year but you have nothing to compare to.
Freakies post says it all... if you cant house and feed everything you produce then dont produce.

Re: Is this worth it?
I Have No Problem Taking Care Of What I Produce. I Also Prefer Rolly Pollys Instead Of Sea Monkeys. And You Are Right I Have Nothing To Compare This Yr To. So You Guys Are Right On Everything. And The Fact That The Market Is Down Comes From Some Big Breeders That I Know.
Also If You Have Been Following Everything. I Stated That I Valued The Point About Having A Few Meals In The Snake Before I Sold It. So I Do Not Even Know Why You Are Mentioning That. Not Unless You Are Beating A Dead Horse.
Listen. I Am Done With This Thread. If You Guys Want To Put More Down Go Ahead.
Good Luck To You Freakie And Your Sidekick Joshy

Re: Is this worth it?
Please don't misunderstand I wasn't putting you down in any way and I'm glad to see that your willing to change how your doing things for the better of your customer.
Its just that time and time again we see people get in to breeding with the dream of making money hand over fist and when they don't sell out with in the first couple of weeks they panic. Thats whats creates market crashers.
No hard feelings I hope and best of luck with all your endeavors.

Re: Is this worth it?
for those most part both sides of this thread have been just nothing but hostile!
ive bought many snakes from ppl that have eaten yet but they were from people that i know. the whole point here is you guys bashed this guy and didnt even know anything other than he had a spider for 150.
should he be angry? HECK YEA!
he shouldnt sell with out it eating atleast a few meals but if he stands up to his sales then so be it.
what do you guys think of my asfs i just got for a dollar a piece or my rats that im paying way below what everyone else is paying. im the only one thats getting those deals btw.
or the many animals i get real deals on like the double yellow head amazon i got my girlfriend for a few hundred.
the economy is bad period and alot of ppl just wont buy snakes and some will but only from well known ppl!
some ppl are slashing prices because they have to sell to make it and some dont.

Re: Is this worth it?
thats it in a nut shell,I JUST GOT INTO A REALLY BAD WAY AND HAD TO FINISH MY BOAT. IF I WAS OK FINANCIALLY, AND I AM PUTTING MYSELF OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, BUT I DONT GIVE A s,
then i would have never put that price on a spider. but when times are tough and you have a family, a man or woman will do whatever it takes to get jumpstarted again. and any of you with kids know exactly where i am coming from!!
listen everybody here had good points. and yes i got pissed, as i do everything with karma in mind these days. so i do my best to wrong no one.
so i will be listing some snakes on here and you guys will see that, i have good snakes that are eating well!

Re: Is this worth it?
No one seems to ever scrutinize the buyer in the same way they do the seller. The buyer is responsible for researching the item they wish to purchase, and asking questions about the item before they buy it. So many people go out and buy things without doing research, and then, when they find out certain things they didn't bother to ask about, they get mad and blame the seller for not telling them. I'll say it again: the buyer is just as responsible as the seller.

Because a lot of people have that "The customer is always right" BS stuck in their head.
