Re: My resident hawk, a view from the deck
Pretty I was going to say Cooper's also. We have them around here in some places; though redtails are more popular. Usually I admit that it is hard to tell them apart when, say, you're driving by at 65 miles an hour. We had some redtails nesting here last year but they have moved on or something.

Bad pictures! What!? If those are bad pictures I'd hate to see what people think mine are....
That last picture is amazing!

Re: My resident hawk, a view from the deck
Don't worry, no snakes allowed out here
We have a goodly number of hawks around, lots of red tails and either or both Cooper's and Shinnies, there is also a Peregrine falcon, I so wish I could get a picture of it!! That would be neat for sure.
What I meant about bad pictures was that I used a 300mm zoom and had the shutter speed at 2000 to prevent shake 'cause I don't have a tripod, and even if I did I wouldn't have had time to get it and set up. Since it was set so fast and it was so dreary out they were dark so I had to lighten them a ton so they are not at all crisp, clean and true to color...I'm extremely pleased with them overall though.
